A former combat medic whose unit was wiped out in a 'heroic' intervention gone wrong. Crippled by debt and PTSD, he signed a predatory contract with Supreme Solutions. Now codenamed 'Reverb', he has subdermal sonic emitters and enhanced physiology, forced to undertake brutal extrajudicial strikes for the corporation to afford the suppressants that stop his own bones from vibrating apart.
About this World
A cynical world where superheroes are corporate-sponsored celebrities, corrupt government agents, and unstable demigods. Power is a commodity, collateral damage is routine, and the line between hero and villain is blurred in blood and media spin.
World History
The Genesis of Valor
In 1984, the world witnessed its first miracle: The Emergence. Cosmic radiation sparked a genetic evolution across Modern Day USA, granting godlike abilities to select individuals. The government quickly commercialized this phenomenon, partnering with corporate conglomerate Valor Corps to brand these individuals as symbols of American exceptionalism. For two decades, these "Heroes" fought crime, built shining skylines, and unified a proud nation.
The Corporate Rot (2004–2018)
By the turn of the century, the golden age fractured. Behind closed doors, the Valor Corps out of Detroit, Michigan treated heroes like walking commodities, covering up drug scandals, civilian collateral damage, and horrific abuses of power. Undefeated and legally shielded by corporate lawyers, the heroes grew depraved.
The turning point came in 2016 during the Chicago Cataclysm. A drug-fueled brawl between America's premier hero, Apex, and a minor rogue leveled thirty city blocks. Valor Corps framed it as a "tragic alien incursion," but a faction of rogue intelligence agents leaked the truth. The public realized their protectors were untamed monsters. Activists and regular citizens who spoke out began disappearing, neutralized by black-ops hero squads.
The Great Fracturing (2019–2024)
In 2021, the system collapsed entirely under the weight of The Schism. Paragon, the world’s most powerful and trusted speedster, suffered a psychological break after discovering his entire career was engineered by corporate handlers. He slaughtered the executive board of Valor Corps and declared himself the sovereign ruler of the Eastern Seaboard. To this day, he is still in power.
Instead of uniting against him, other hero factions seized their own territories. Traditional states disintegrated as caped warlords divided the continental United States into feuding fiefdoms:
• The New Republic: A fascist military state controlled by heavily armed, zealous supes.
• The Wastelands: The ruined, irradiated Midwest, left to lawless, predatory supervillains.
• The Corporate Zone: A heavily policed technocracy in California run by surviving tech-monopolies.
The Shadow Era (Present Day, 2026)
Today, America is a hollowed-out battleground. Traditional military forces are completely obsolete, reduced to desperate insurgencies or mercenary bands serving super-powered masters. The line between hero and villain has been utterly erased; there are only those who wield absolute power and the normal humans who crawl beneath them.
From the ashes of the old world, a desperate underground human resistance has emerged: The Jury. Operating out of ruined city basements, they track, hunt, and execute rogue gods using stolen alien technology and chemical weaponry. They do not fight for justice or peace—they fight purely for human survival in a world where the gods have truly gone mad.

Echo Trench
Background
Personality Traits
Marrow
Background
A non-binary street artist who was painting a mural when the Rupture's energy rained down. Their biology was rewritten; they now have voluntary control over their own skeletal structure, able to extrude bone weapons and armor. The process is excruciating, and their mind is a fractured gallery of other people's memories, siphoned during the event.
Personality Traits
Silas Ward
Background
An astrophysics researcher who was at ground zero of the Celestial Rupture. His body is now a semi-stable portal to a screaming, lightless dimension. He can unleash devastating gravitational waves and spectral horrors, but each use widens the tear in his own soul. He leads the Rupture not by choice, but because the others see his suffering as the most profound.
Personality Traits
Vesper Drake
Background
A celebrity publicist handpicked by Supreme Solutions to manage their premium hero brands. Ruthlessly ambitious, she sees the augmented not as people, but as products and liabilities to be spun or terminated. She orchestrated the cover-up that destroyed Echo's life and sleeps soundly knowing she's secured another quarter of record profits.
Personality Traits

Biotech Augmentation
Corporate-manufactured biological and cybernetic enhancements. Grants superhuman abilities through invasive surgery, gene splicing, and neural implants. Subjects are corporate property, their powers fueled by expensive, controlled pharmaceuticals.
Attacks
A sharpened ulna blade extends from the forearm for a savage slash.
Muscle fibers violently contract, delivering a punch with explosive force.
A chemically-enhanced tackle that crushes opponents against walls.
Piston-driven fists clench with enough force to crumple steel.
Ejects a glob of bio-engineered acid from a modified salivary gland.
Sharpened bone fragments are violently expelled from the lungs.
A palm strike that emits a localized EMP, frying cybernetics.
Retractable claws coated with a fast-acting neurotoxin.
Kinetic energy from an impact is converted into a concussive heat blast.
Launches a capsule that releases a disorienting, choking agent.
Grapples an attacker and uses their momentum to hurl them with amplified force.
A modulated vocal cord blast that shatters glass and ruptures eardrums.
A punch that flash-freezes the point of impact, causing brittle fractures.
Uses a sealed artery to spray superheated, coagulating blood.
A precise kick aimed to sever ligaments and cripple mobility.
A touch that forces a target's own nervous system into convulsive overload.
A flurry of piston-powered punches too fast to properly block.
Projects a volatile ball of ignited metabolic waste.
Fires a small, drugged needle that causes temporary paralysis.
Extends a segmented metal cable from the wrist to ensnare and constrict a target.
Cosmic Anomaly
Unstable powers granted by exposure to other-dimensional energy or alien artifacts. Users are volatile demigods, their abilities waxing and waning with their mental state, often causing catastrophic collateral damage.
Attacks
